1. What bugs can live in my carpet? Carpet Beetle, Carpet Flea and Dust Mite. 2. Why have my carpets cleaned regularly?Soil, grit and grease are the major causes of reducing the life of your carpet fibers. This dirt also enables harmful mites and bacteria to set up home in the carpet. Did you know that 80% of all allergies are caused by dust mites and their excrement? 3. What effect does the dirt have? Dirt is an abrasive – like sand paper. Every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the carpet fibres. This cuts your carpet, just as if you had used a knife, and causes your carpet to wear out faster. 4. Is the only reason to clean carpets and upholstery to remove the dirt? No. Outdoor air contains pollens, fungus, bacteria, cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes and hundreds of other chemicals, which are brought in on your hair, skin, clothing and shoes. Not surprisingly, these can end up in your carpet and suite. 5. How often should I have my carpets cleaned? We believe that cleaning your carpets every 12-18 months will keep them in tip-top condition, especially if they are light coloured.
